LECTURAS

Dando uno una vuelta por el Patrimonio oculto, más bien desaparecido  de la ciudad, de vez en cuando te encuentras verdaderas curiosidades.  Esta entrada esta entresacada  de la Memoria de Constitución  de la Sociedad Amigos de la Biblioteca Municipal de 1931. Si los refranes dicen tienen razón, en este caso el “Dime que lees que te diré quién eres” lo clava. Les aseguro que si pudieran leer la lista completa de donantes y las obras cedidas por los mismos, no tendrían ninguna duda del nivel intelectual y gusto por el tipo de lecturas de cada uno de ellos. Por ejemplo, a D. Emilio Villa Baena se ve le encantaba D. Benito Pérez Galdós y tendría repe la Primera Serie de sus Episodios. Nacionales. No tengo ni idea de las estadísticas actuales de lectura de la Biblioteca Municipal pero si les digo que en el año 1931 disponía de más de tres mil obras, que trimestralmente se consultaban sobre 1800 y sacadas en préstamos 198.

For example, Mr Emilio Villa Baena is missing from D. Benito Pérez Galdós. I have no idea of the current reading statistics at the local library but if I tell you that 1931 had more than three thousand works, that quarterly the average consultation was 1800 and taken out in 198 loans.

Después de leer esto una de dos, o mis abuelos eran como mis hijos quejándose del súper esfuerzo  que significa estar atento a cinco horas de clase sin usar el móvil o quien lo escribió era un dignísimo hijo pródigo de Carmona…  Algo falla. Bueno, les diré quién lo escribió, Don José Calvo Domínguez en su libro Geografía Médica de Carmona dedicada a su íntimo Don Lorenzo Domínguez  Pascual en 1906. Dentro de ella relata el pasaje que exponemos, algunos pensaran que era una bicoca trabajar en el campo y no la exageración del “solo al sol” , hoy actividad vital según dice el Gobierno, pero si lo terminas de leer… mi abuelo sería un gañan de dos cigarritos ¡. Los otros, los que aprovecharon los descansos sabe Dios qué apellidos tienen ahora…

Ejemplo de ciudad milenaria, culta y heredera de lo mejor de iberos, romanos, visigodos, árabes, castellanos y hasta franceses que la conquistaron, no puede fallar. Tenemos una ocasión de hacerlo bien, quedémonos en casa como el sentido común manda. No se preocupen, al día siguiente de la liberación los bares nos esperan con las puertas abiertas de par en par ¡¡¡
